Ida Sjöstedt spring summer 2011

Just Representing my Scandinavian roots and want to highlight the Spring Summer collections of some of my favourite designers from Stockholm Fashion week.

Ida Sjöstedt has put together a delightful collection.
With the backdrop reminiscent to a Rococo Painting and drawn back pink curtains it set the environment to the collection.

Butterfly printed outfits (my favourite being a butterfly printed top combined with leopard print shorts)

Ida showcased a light, fun and playful attitude which is what I think s/s should be about
There are some great light ethereal sheer maxi dresses looking very elegant and chic
I also loved the sequin leopard print maxi dress but I'm a sucker for sequins

Christian Dior

Christain Dior Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 Haute Couture
Tropical Flowers on Ecstasy is all I can say
Love it
Always a fan of John Galliano using all the colours under the Rainbow and Brightening up Fall with vivid pigments of colour.
I also like the connotation of having coloured cellophane wrapped around the models heads as if a representation of a bouquet of exotic flowers.
Stephen Jones was incharge of this Headgear.
Galliano didn't even hold back with the shapes, having dresses hems in the shape of petals and evening dresses reminiscent of fields of flowers.
Obviously Dior is famous for it's tulip shape dresses in the 40's, so that was a source of inspiration as well as flower photos from Irving Penn and Nick Knight.

Christian Dior Tulip Pleat Skirt
I hate it when Fall always means browns, navys and Black colours are in season
Galliano is marching on the Pro colour  for Fall Parade!!!!!
All the Flower Photos are Irving Penn

Alexis does Geisha

Alexis Mabille Autumn/Winter 2010-2011

I love this 15 piece collection. I think its really clever that its a collection of separates because in turn it could make it into a collection of 40, mismatching the items and creating a new look.
I really have a Vintage Oriental, Japanese Geisha Print vibe about this collection. With the use of Black and white embroidery and nude pastel colours, just makes the individual pieces really romantic and wearable for a few seasons to come me thinks.
I love the volume in the sleeves of the nude shirt and
I especially love the black and white corset top

Its like a Modern Japanese Fairytale

Going Back to the Elements

Elie Saab 2010 Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 Haute Couture Collection

Elie Saab has Rocked it
I felt she took natural elements such as Algae from the Rocks, Fire, Vivid Sunsets, Sand on the sea and made them into luxurious expensive untouchable gowns as if
Roman Mythological Goddesses
were striding down the Catwalk

Here I think Elie Saab took some munter ugly Algae from some cobbled rock in a Forest and used the textures and colour and transformed it to create these
 Queens of the Algae

Hello.... here comes the Rulers of fire and the Sun
HOT HOT HOT colour palette
loving the liquid red falling gowns

Sand that Glitters is definitely the feature in these three designs.
It just makes me want to go on Holiday to Bali.
Queens of the Sahara!
